We've just completed a 'make over' of the Coaching and Training blog which is now re-branded and re-positioned as 'Coaching Matters'.

The Job

Initially launched as 'Coaching and Training' — then a more personal blog by Nick Bolton, founder of The Smart School of Coaching, the new Coaching Matters blog has a broader remit for the coaching community.

Nick's focus has now changed as his business and other coaching initiatives have grown. Coaching Matters is also the name of a 'Meet Up' group of coaches, individuals and companies all interested in improving, sharing ideas and connecting as coaches and trainers. The blog is the online focus for sharing news, articles, posting interviews, promoting best practice and generating communication in the coaching community.

What did the makeover involve?

We changed the logo, styles, header, and the website address of the blog. This also meant updating some 'back end' things such as the email responders too.

Because the blog is built on WordPress it's quite straightforward to make 'design' and 'admin' changes to the site. We turned this around for Nick really quickly - in time for an event he was promoting the new site at (as he'd already printed the brochures with the new website address!).

The Job

Nick Bolton is Founder of The Smart School, which trains business coaches, and is also Director of ITOL in London, which is the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning.

We designed Nick a WordPress blog called www.coaching-and-training.co.uk to use as 'his' presence on the web.

Nick's blog is about showcasing what he does

Here's how Nick explains his blog:

"My blog brings my business interests together — how to improve coaching and training across the board — and is about bringing professionals together to share skills, what they are doing, and enhance knowledge."

This is how Nick describes the purpose of his blog (on his blog!):

"I am absolutely passionate about creating great coaches and trainers with powerful and practical skills, which get great results for clients.

"This blog seeks to communicate what works in coaching and training, to encourage ongoing learning and development of ideas."

Getting a blog professionally designed was important

As Nick explains in his own words:

"I had started the blog, but it looked rubbish! It was obviously just a template style. I wanted it to look professional and to show that I had clearly devoted time to it. The blog is MY showcase, so I need it to reflect the value I attach to it."

Nick's brief was to show that he invests in the look, layout and, most importantly, the content of his blog to demonstrate its value.

And the result?

"The blog is now exactly what I wanted — it's fantastic," says Nick.

"Working with Inspired Business Marketing has been, in a word, Amazing! I have never had a business relationship that is so easy and comfortable. It's a great partnership that Lucy and Andy have - you really do get what they say they do - access to Lucy's 'marketing brain' and Andy's skill as a website designer.

"I have loved working with them. It really has been so natural and easy - even though it's not been face to face. I felt trust from the outset - I knew that I was not going to get charged over the odds, and I had complete confidence in them delivering right from the beginning."

Thanks Nick!

We explained everything in detail to get the blog right for Nick

Or as Nick said, we explained everything and more!

"In fact, not only did you answer my questions, but you made sure I knew everything I needed to know about the blog!

Nick adds: "At the outset, you give confidence that you can deliver. "Yes, we can do that" as a simple answer — you don't get all 'technical'. As a customer that's great, as I know that I can get done what I want!"

Nick unhesitatingly recommends us. Here's why:

Here Nick has listed some of the reasons why he is happy to recommend us (thanks Nick):

"For one, it's the rapport you have with me - it's honestly been great, and gives me the feeling of wanting to work with you. Then you deliver consistently well, and on time - just as you've promised. You also know how to get the best from someone - you find out what the best way to work with me is, and explain what you need to in really simple terms, and do it in a way that makes me think "Wow, these are exactly the guys I need" — which is very rare actually."

What Nick is doing now with his newly designed blog

"Now I have the blog, I can promote "me" as a brand in a much stronger way. I am also very focused at the moment on link building, and having the blog means I can do this in a much less 'commercial' way as I am not selling anything on that site — just providing information.

"I now have a much more integrated approach between the Smart School and my blog, which is a really great feeling."

And Nick isn't stopping with a blog — he's keen to use it as a focal point for a lot of social marketing activity:

"I am learning a lot more about Social Media Marketing, and will be putting everything I learn into action, and having the blog as the centre of all that effort."

Nick has already asked us to work on future projects, and we're delighted to be able to continue working with him.
