Getting Started with a blog

Steve had been meaning to set up a blog for a while. He had a pretty good idea why he wanted to blog and what he could say, he just needed to some help to get set up and started.

"I had known about blogging as I'd been aware of it from marketing seminars and other things I read, but had always shied away, assuming it would be expensive and complicated. But having been reminded yet again at a recent marketing seminar that it was a great way to demonstrate my expertise, attract traffic online and generally 'market' myself and my business, I knew I had to get blogging. After speaking with Andy and Lucy, they made it really easy for me to get started.

"The blog software they showed me [WordPress] was easy to use, and with the right advice on how to manage my blog I am already a reasonably confident user. Lucy and Andy have also helped me understand how to maximise the effectiveness of my new blog, and I can see how it's going to make a big difference to my business."

We helped Steve understand why he was blogging, and how to relate this to his business.

"Andy and Lucy took me through the basics right from thinking up a good URL [web address for the blog], and setting up a domain to host the blog on, to introducing me to the software it needed to run on. They showed me that it was straightforward to manage, and something I could easily do. They are very knowledgeable, and Lucy has a lot of marketing and Internet marketing experience along with a good understanding of business, which means it was never just about what the blog looked like, but how it would work for me. "Andy is a very talented web designer, and I will certainly be asking him to work on a new website for me this year. Even though this will be my fourth website and the fourth time I will have to go through this process, I finally feel I will be happy with the result, the design, the process and the price!

Blogs are about business too

"My plans for the blog, now that it is set up, is to use it as a basis for writing a series of articles that position my knowledge and allow me to explore specialist Chiropractic complaints and solutions. I can write about a vast number of topics related to my Chiropractic work, knowing that each will be a good way for me to attract new traffic to my site, and help with my SEO.

"When I have built up a collection of posts, I will be able to use these to publish e-books on subjects which I can then in turn use as marketing tools. I already see how the blog is helping me promote my business and knowledge, and wish I had started it earlier!"
